Alessandra Voena is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at the University of Chicago. Prior to moving to Chicago, Voena was a Giorgio Ruffolo Fellow in the Sustainability Science Program at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. She is an applied economist, focusing primarily on economics of the family, labor economics, and development economics. Her research in these areas has been published in the Journal of Political Economy, the American Economic Review, and the Journal of Development Economics. She received a Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in 2011 and was selected to participate in the Review of Economic Studies European Tour in May 2011.
